Creating a simple, potentially iconic trademark isn't simple at all. Successfully extracting the essence of a brand and representing it in a focused, appropriate, and memorable image is always a complex challenge.

Chermayeff & Geismar partner Sagi Haviv -- recently called a "logo prodigy" by The New Yorker -- walks us through his firm's time-tested approach to identity design, an approach the firm has held for many decades and that produced iconic trademarks such as Chase Bank's (now in use for 50 years), Mobil Oil's (now in use for 45 years), the NBC's (now in use for 25 years), and countless other timeless icons that have become an inseparable part of our visual culture.

In this presentation, you will learn:

  • The criteria a potentially iconic logo must meet
  • The process to ensure a successful and effective identity design solution for a client
  • Some of the challenges you might face when working for major clients and what steps can you take to overcome them
  • How the Chermayeff & Geismar approach has held up over the decades, even in light of the radical changes in technology and rise of multimedia
